We've all make snowflakes at some point of our lives. But, I recently rediscovered how fun this very basic activity can be. I also learned how using craft punches and even regular hole punches can help even the littlest hands make precise shapes. Check out my snowflake tutorial here.
I had a very darling poem to post with this tutorial about "how God made sunsets and snowflakes and how no two are alike," but I've misplaced the book since reading it to Anne the other day. Sorry! Maybe I'll find it soon. But along those lines, use this activity to "plant some seeds" of God's truth in your kids' hearts. Consider these conversation starters while you craft your snowflakes with your little one:
- Did you know that there are no two snowflakes alike? God made each one very unique and very beautiful.
- Did you know that God created no two people just alike? He made you special and you are like no one else in the world.
- Let's think about some of your friends. How are they different than you? Some have straight hair, some are tall, some are smaller than you...Still, God looks at each of you, just as we look at each snowflake and he thinks, "That one is just beautiful!"
We taped our snowflakes up on the kitchen door window and here are the shadows the snowflakes cast on the wall.
