Okay...things are not totally complete, but I can wait no longer to "unveil" our new home. There are still pictures to hang, nail holes to spackle and windows to Windex, but most of our living space is now liveable. And it feels like....home.
So I thought we'd start at the front of the house. Seems logical, right? So just imagine that I've invited you over to lunch and you are just pulling up in your car....
Okay here is the front door BEFORE:
The solid doors made the front entryway/hallway very, very dark. So we scored this door on Craigslist for $375. Doors like this normally are $2000 and up. The windows bring in so much light.
BEFORE (inside entry way):
You can see the old white tiles....also the stairway and 40-yr-old carpet...That's cousin Steve ripping out the carpet. You go, Steve!
New, brighter light fixture
Slate tile floors
All trim painted white
New carpet on stairs
Mirror to be hung....
Wall art I've added since:
Use what you got. I bought these large quilt squares at an estate sale 2 years ago. I never put them together to make the actual quilt, but they make great wall art. I also had a large stash of wooden embroidery hoops. I combined the two and made this arrangement.
The nice thing is that I didn't cut the quilt squares (just folded them and pinned them in the back). So if I ever want to piece the quilt together, I can.
