Here's a tutorial to make these fun wooden cards for your loved ones.
Materials:
- small logs (we used some from our firewood pile)
- red paint
- pencil
- paintbrush
- drill
- thin ribbon
Step 1: Have an adult cut thin "cookies" out of your log of wood.
Step 2: Draw a heart on one side using a pencil.
Step 3: Have you child paint "in" the heart.
Step 4: Let dry completely.
Step 5: Drill a hole at the top and tie a ribbon and message to the "wooden" cookie.
Or if you prefer, you can skip the drill and bow and just write your message directly on the back using a permanent marker.
Project Options: If you don't have access to logs and a saw, you can still make some "wooden" valentines. Have you child collect large pieces of bark to paint on. Or, gather little sticks and paint the message horizontal across the stick.
Oh, man those are heart-meltingly cute! I love the fun idea.

I need information pertaining to the logistics of corn. Starting from
seed and all the processes it goes through, till it is served on the
table.

This is such a cool idea. I have 3 girls. 1, 4, and 6. My kids are so excited to do this project. We are heading to grandpas tomorrow to cut the "cookies", and then we will decorate and make enough for my 6yr olds first grade class for valentines. I actually found these cute little valentine note pads to attach with ribbon along with the tag. It's nice not to sugar up all of the kids when we don't have to. A valentine like this will be memorable and fun for the whole fam to make. Thanks for sharing this!

Here is a link to my video documenting our process making these for my daughters 1st grade class. We had a blast and can't wait to see what her classmates think of their valentines. Thanks for the inspiration Janna! http://youtu.be/xnSD1UXAPLg
