You are in my prayers for God's mighty healing touch. I pray for His blessings of peace and strength for Toben and the loving embrace of Jesus around your sweet girls until they can crawl back up into their mother's arms.

In today's lesson, we read how Jesus calms the storm.

"Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him." (Matthew 8:23) Notice how Jesus got into the boat first. The disciples were following Jesus. As believers, who are following Jesus Christ, sometimes when our world is shaken by the unexpected storms of life, we question if we are in God's will.

"Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping." (Matthew 8:24) The storms of life often hit us the hardest when we don't see them coming. When they come without warning. After ministering to the crowds, Jesus was tired. With waves sweeping over the boat, and not awakening Him, we are left to conclude that He must have been exhausted. Here we see Jesus' humanity.

"The disciples went and woke him, saying, "Lord, save us! We're going to drown!" (Matthew 8:25) These disciples were experienced fishermen, and they knew they were in trouble. They knew that many lives had been lost on the Lake of Galilee and that drowning was a possibility. Their culture equated death at sea with the abyss. But in their trial, the disciples knew who to look to for help. They called out to the "Lord" and expected Him to save them.

"He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm." (Matthew 8:26) As long as Jesus was in the boat, nothing was going to happen to the disciples. Only God can calm the winds and waves. Jesus is Lord over nature. The storm stopped immediately. It didn't just play itself out. Here we see Jesus' divinity. When we are with Jesus, we can take comfort in knowing that there is always an end to the storm.

"The men were amazed and asked, "What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!" (Matthew 8:27) Jesus has authority over nature. Jesus is in control of our world.

Friend, are you going through terrible trials? Do you have a troubled heart? Is Jesus in your vessel? Do you know the Master of the wind? Do you know the Maker of the rain?



I was in constant prayer yesterday and will continue today! She radiates with God all over her and love the part where she is still praising Him in her sleep now. Amen sister! I will mail something today, but please pass on how much we love her!


Heavenly Father I pray for this sister in Christ.... you are the healer the GREAT Physician and only you know exactly what she needs at this time. Please give the family peace and comfort that only can come from you.
"When thou passeth through the waters I will be with you, and through the rivers they shall not overflow thee, and when you walkest through the fire thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee." Isaiah 43:2

I pray the Lord will send his ministering angels and precious Holy Spirit to minister peace and comfort to you as you as you lay in that hospital. I pray HE will do a complete and healing work in your mind and body even as you lay there-unsure of what is fully happening. Also wanted to remind the family of this quote from David Platt's Radical...Joanne & I emailed each other about it last week.

In direct contradiction to the American dream, God actually delights in exalting our inability. He intentionally puts his people in situations where they come face to face with their need for him. In the process he powerfully demonstrates his ability to provide everything his people need in ways they could never have mustered up or imagined. And in the end, he makes much of his own name (see 2 Cor. 12:7-9)...This is how God works. He puts his people in positions where they are desperate for his power, and then he shows his provision in ways that display his greatness.


My heart is heavy, but I am called to hope based on Psalm 52:8-9, my verse:

But as for me, I am like green olive tree in the house of God; I trust in the lovingkindness of God forever and ever.
I will give Thee thanks forever, because Thou hast done it, and I wait on Thy name, for it is good, in the presence of Thy godly ones.

This past March, our precious 3 year old son Jed was diagnosed with a rare/aggressive muscle cancer. 20 chemos later he is doing good! God is going to use this for His glory and what a testimony Jedidiah and Joanne will have for our Lord!
