Since we moved into this house I've wanted a veggie garden. We only have one small corner that gets good strong sun. So on Mother's Day weekend, Matt built my above-ground garden area.
He started by building a retaining wall in the area.
Then down goes the weed mat and gravel. Beth: Pebbles don't taste good.
This was my solution to filling the cattle troughs on the bottom. I didn't want to buy a bunch of packing peanuts as many people suggest. So I collected all our plastic containers for a few months and lined the bottom. My own little landfill project.
We arranged the troughs in the area. Then filled with good garden soil from the nursery.
Then, we planted! Some things are still struggling a bit. I even trimmed back the tree a bit to give it some more sun. Hopefully, all this heat will help thing grow.
I'm working on natural trellis supports using all the branches in our yard.
Janna, This is such a creative idea! I can't wait to see how it looks and how everything will turn out at summer's end! I'm glad you've got your garden section going. I know how much you've missed that. Keep us updated on the progress.

I saw this on Kristin's blog and am planning on using troughs in a front yard area that we are re-rocking this summer. Love how you filled yours! So glad you shared that! Where did you end up getting your troughs???

Hi there! Do you know how to check if your own content is exclusive in the whole blogosphere and no other blogger is using it without letting you know about it?
